About product

Revell Email Color 82 Dark Earth (RAF) — dark brown, matte, 14 ml

Shade number 82 from the Revell Email Color range. It is a modeling paint, not a kit — the package contains one bottle of 14 ml. Email Color is a synthetic enamel paint on a solvent base (not an acrylic): it does not attack plastic, it covers excellently and it forms a durable film. The degree of sheen is matte. It is thinned with Revell Color Mix or with mineral spirits, not with water.

Use

  • British aircraft camouflage of the Second World War — Dark Earth is the dark brown color that, together with Dark Green, forms the classic two-color camouflage of the upper surfaces of British fighters. This is exactly the combination the Spitfires and Hurricanes carried at the time of the Battle of Britain.
  • Other British aircraft of the same period — bombers, trainers and auxiliary machines with the brown-and-green upper surface scheme.
  • Earthy tones in general — brown areas of ground vehicles, crates, bags, equipment of figures.
  • Dioramas — earth, roads, dusty terrain and dusty surfaces; the matte finish takes pigments and washes well.
  • It is applied with a brush and with an airbrush. When spraying camouflage with soft transitions, thin the paint further and spray from a shorter distance at lower pressure.

Who the paint is for

Above all for aircraft modelers who build British machines of the early Second World War and need the correct dark brown tone for the upper surfaces. But it comes into its own wherever a convincing earthy brown is needed — from the equipment of figures to the base of terrain in a diorama.

The paint is a flammable liquid. The vapors irritate the respiratory tract — work in a ventilated area and use respiratory protection when spraying. Protect from open flame, keep out of the reach of children and follow the instructions on the packaging.
