A precision vise with stainless steel jaws, from DSPIAE. It holds small parts firmly and without flexing, so both hands stay free.
Responsibility details are not available.
A vise for work in which the part really has to hold: drilling, scribing, cutting with a saw or reworking a resin or metal part. Stainless steel jaws have one advantage over aluminum ones in that they do not flex under pressure and do not get dented, so even after years they grip along their whole length and not just at the ends. A flexed jaw is in fact the usual reason why a small part jumps out of a vise.
Tighten the jaws only enough for the part to hold. Under excessive pressure plastic is permanently dented or cracks, and with thin-walled parts it is advisable to put a piece of soft plastic or cork between the jaw and the material. Set the vise so that your hand moves away from your body as you draw the tool. Wipe the jaws after work and blow the chips out of the grooves.
Stainless steel is resistant but not indestructible. Do not use the vise as a cutting surface or as a hammer for straightening a part; battered jaws stop seating and the vise then loses the main thing it can do.
The model and tools are not included in the package.
The vise is worth it for anyone who works with metal, resin or photo-etched parts. For a purely plastic build a lighter version will do; stainless steel jaws show their worth precisely where pressure is needed that would gradually spread aluminum.
