A publication, not a kit. The monograph on the British Avro Vulcan strategic bomber was written by Kev Darling and came out as volume 30 of the aviation series from the British publisher Warpaint Books. The title covers the B.1, B.1A and B.2 versions as well as the K.2 tanker. The text is in English and the softcover format is close to A4.
The Vulcan was a four-engine bomber with a large delta wing. It first flew in 1952 and from 1956 it formed, together with the Valiant and the Victor, the trio of British V-bombers that carried the nuclear weapon. The B.2 version received a reworked wing and more powerful Bristol Olympus engines and could carry the Blue Steel stand-off missile. Its best-known combat use came paradoxically at the very end of its career: in 1982 Vulcans flew from Ascension over the Falklands against the airfield at Port Stanley, and the distance called for an extensive chain of tankers. Some of the aircraft ended their service converted into K.2 tankers, and the type was retired in 1984.
For modelers who build the Vulcan in large and small scales and need a reference for markings and for telling the versions apart, and for anyone interested in British strategic aviation of the Cold War. The extent of the volume is not stated here; the page count differs between the individual titles in the series.
