Chameleon Royal Burgundy from Green Stuff World: an acrylic paint that changes shade with the angle of view. It is applied over a black gloss base.
Responsibility details are not available.
An acrylic paint from the range that carries fine flake pigments. They do not reflect light evenly but refract it, so the surface shifts from one shade to another as it is tilted. This one is based on a burgundy red. The paint is semi-transparent, which is the key to how it has to be handled: without the right base the effect will not appear.
The manufacturer recommends a black base coat and states that a gloss black strengthens the effect further. Shake the bottle thoroughly, as the pigment settles to the bottom. Apply very thin coats and let each one dry before you lay down the next, until the paint reaches full depth and the base is no longer visible. According to the manufacturer the best results are achieved with an airbrush; a brush works too, but an even surface is harder to keep with one. Do not use alcohol-based thinners, as they damage the paint.
For painters of figures and fantasy subjects, for modelers who build science fiction vehicles, and for anyone who wants a surface that transforms as the model is turned.
Keep the paint out of the reach of children, ventilate when spraying and protect your airways. Close the bottle carefully after use.
