DSPIAE MSP-ES01 abrasive papers for round heads, 180 grit

Five self-adhesive abrasive papers cut to the shape of the round sanding head of the electric reciprocating sander. The 180 grit is the coarsest grain of the whole range and is used only where a really large amount of material has to come off: thick ridges of filler, massive casting blocks on resin parts, badly made glued joints or reshaping during a conversion.

What to watch out for

This grain does not forgive. On plastic it removes material faster than you can react, and the scratches it leaves behind have to be removed by at least three further grades. Reach for it only when a finer paper would stretch the job out by tens of minutes, and as soon as the coarse unevenness is gone, move to a finer grit at once.

How to work with them

• Clean the head before sticking the paper on; it will not hold on dust.
• Do not press; the reciprocating movement removes plenty with this grain on its own.
• Mask the surrounding detail with tape, as a coarse grain will remove it without trace.
• Work briefly and keep checking how much you have already taken off.
• Clean the part thoroughly afterward, as the remaining coarse grains will scratch every further step.

Who they are for

The refill is for owners of the electric reciprocating sander with round heads who work with resin, filler and conversions. On an ordinary plastic build this grit is practically never used. The sander and the heads are not included in the package.

Do not breathe in the sanding dust from plastic and resin; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
