Revell enamel paint set for aircraft models

A paint set from the Revell Email Color range put together with aircraft model building in mind. These are classic synthetic enamel paints — solvent-based, with excellent covering power and the ability to flow out into a smooth surface with no visible brush marks. That is exactly why enamels are a popular choice for brush painting, although they also work well in an airbrush. Note: these are not acrylic paints and they do not tolerate water.

Use

• Thin only with Revell Color Mix thinner — enamel paints are not thinned with water or with acrylic thinners.
• Stir the paint thoroughly right from the bottom before use, as the pigment in enamels settles.
• Apply thin coats with a brush; enamel dries more slowly and the strokes flow together nicely.
• For an airbrush, thin to the consistency of milk and spray several light coats.
• Under decals use a gloss clear coat that is compatible with enamels — lacquer thinner based finishes would attack an enamel base.
• Let the paint dry thoroughly between coats; enamel takes longer to cure fully than acrylics.

Who the set is for

The set is a practical basis for modelers who build aircraft and prefer proven enamel chemistry — from beginners, to whom it forgives imperfect brush technique, to advanced builders who combine enamels with an airbrush. It also works as a top-up of paint stock for aircraft projects already under way. The exact composition of the shades in the set is given on the box of the particular package.

Safety notice: solvent-based paints — work in a well-ventilated room, out of the reach of children and away from open flame. Use breathing protection when spraying.
