A water-based acrylic from Green Stuff World for figures and gaming models. It thins with water, dries quickly and takes further coats well. According to the name this is a gray shifted toward blue, which makes it a cool gray rather than a neutral one.
In a modeling palette gray is divided by its cast, and the difference shows on a model at once. A cool gray tinted with blue optically recedes into the background and reads as metallic or technical. A warm gray tinted with brown or ocher comes forward instead and reads as stone, dust or cloth. When you use both on one model, you get depth for free: the cool gray on the areas that are to recede, the warm one on those that are to be closer to the eye. The second point is mixing. Grays mixed from black and white are dead, because there is no tone in them. A living gray comes from a pair of complementary colors, for example blue and orange with the blue predominating. Such a gray still has an inner color and in a glaze or in a transition it behaves quite differently from a neutral mix of black and white.
For players and modelers who want a gray with a tone in their palette, not just a mix of black and white. Shake the bottle before use.
