A subdued green shade from the Green Stuff World acrylic range, water-thinnable and matte, pitched at military uniforms and vehicles.

This faded green tone from the Green Stuff World acrylic range aims exactly where a modeler needs it most often. That is at uniforms, tarpaulins, crates and the camouflage finishes of vehicles. It is not a bright grass green or a deep forest green but a subdued shade with a grayish cast, of the kind that real military fabrics carry once they have been out in the weather.
The range the paint belongs to is water-thinnable, covers well and stays smoothly matte once dry. On gaming miniatures a matte surface is an advantage: it does not reflect light, it does not spoil photographs and it takes subsequent glazes and dry-brushed edge highlights without trouble. It is sold in a separate bottle with a dropper insert, so it can be dosed drop by drop and mixed comfortably on a wet palette.
To get the most out of a single shade, mix in a little ocher or sand for the raised places and, conversely, a drop of brown into the shadows. That creates a smooth transition which looks noticeably livelier on a figure than a flat coat. On the larger surfaces of vehicles it is better to apply two thin coats, because one thick one could smother the fine relief of the casting. The paint goes well with later weathering using oil paints and enamel washes; it is simply advisable to put a clear intermediate coat between the two.
