Military Green is a middle green tone with a muted character shifted toward khaki, of the kind military vehicles, ammunition crates, tarpaulins and parts of field gear tend to have. It is neither the fresh green of growth nor the dark color of conifer needles, but rather a working shade that is meant to look ordinary on a scene and not draw attention. That makes it usable on large areas of equipment.
On a model, though, it is rarely left the way it comes out of the bottle. A military finish fades on the sunny side, goes yellow on the engine covers and darkens in the corners, so the base tone is usually only laid out and the further work takes place in deviations from it. For that it is useful that the shade shifts easily upward with a sand color and downward with a brown.
A water-thinnable binder allows the paint to be applied with a brush and with an airbrush and the dried area stays matte, which with a camouflage finish is a basic condition. The volume of the bottle is seventeen milliliters, the neck is fitted with a dropper and a metal ball moves inside, thanks to which settled pigment comes back after a moment of shaking.
For the look of a vehicle in use it proves useful to lighten the middle of large panels and leave the edges in the base tone. The difference is to be barely noticeable, because a striking transition acts more like a spraying mistake than like years spent under the open sky.
