Olive-Brown belongs to a small subgroup of shades that carry the abbreviation OPS in their name. The brand's catalog also holds a yellow-brown counterpart to it, and together they cover the colors worn by today's load-bearing vests, backpacks, holsters and tactical accessories. The tone lies exactly between olive and brown, so it looks natural on fabric and on nylon alike.
For builders of modern figures it is the working color for most of the gear. On vehicles it suits tarpaulins, straps and transport covers, where a pure olive would look too fresh. Once dry the surface is flat, which matches reality on textile surfaces better than any shine.
The consistency matches brush painting, for which the palette was primarily built. The shade works with an airbrush once acrylic thinner is added. Thanks to the dropper insert in the neck an exact amount can be taken out and repeatable mixes made, which helps when the same tone is applied to several figures one after another.
The metal ball inside stirs up the pigment that settles in earth tones. A few seconds of shaking gives the shade it should be, and a tight cap keeps the contents from thickening between sessions.
Further olive and brown tones can be found in the same palette, so a whole set of gear can be played out in shades instead of looking uniform. On larger areas it works better to thin on the palette rather than in the bottle itself, and to replace dried residue with a fresh portion.
