Parchment is a paint from the Acrylic Color line of the Spanish brand Green Stuff World. It is a water-based acrylic: it thins with water or with an acrylic thinner, the brushes are washed out with water and it does not mix with lacquers or with oil paints. The shade corresponds to yellowed paper and parchment, that is to a subdued light earth with no sharp whiteness.
Scrolls, maps, documents pinned to shields and open books are small areas that carry a disproportionately large part of the impression a figure makes. The method is short and reliable: apply the Parchment base coat in two thin layers, so that the engraved edges of the paper are not lost. Then put a thin darker wash into the hollows and into the places where a sheet curls, as the detail will group itself into shadows and the paper will gain a wave. Finally go over the upper edges and the raised areas of the scroll with a lighter tone. Three steps, two minutes of work, and the accessory reads even at arm's length.
For players and collectors of fantasy figures, where scrolls and books are a frequent accessory, and for builders of dioramas who are finishing paper props on tables and notice boards. It is applied with a brush and, once thinned, with an airbrush; check the ratio on a test part.
Shake thoroughly before use. Store it closed, protect it from frost and keep it out of reach of children.
