Acrylic Color Phantom Violet - a subdued violet

Phantom Violet is a violet from the Acrylic Color line from Green Stuff World, pitched toward a cooler, grayed tone. Unlike a saturated violet it behaves calmly, so it is brought in rather where the color is to support the shape than to overpower it: into the shadows of fabrics, onto ghostly effects, onto gray cloaks that are meant to have a cast. It is a water-thinnable acrylic, it mixes with other acrylics and it dries quickly.

Repeating a shade across a series

• When you are building a unit over several evenings, keep one bottle and one method reserved for its colors. The shade then comes out the same even a week later.
• Note mixed tones down in ratios rather than by eye, because two parts of this violet and one part of gray can be repeated, while the eye gets it wrong after a few days.
• When you need a mix for more figures, mix a larger amount at once into a resealable container, so that you do not have to come back to it.
• It thins with water or with an acrylic thinner. Lacquer thinner does not belong in an acrylic.
• Shake before taking paint out, because the pigment settles in the bottle.

Who the color is for

For painters of figures who work with shadows and cool transitions, and for players who are building an army in subdued colors. It also suits the undead, ghostly effects, stone with a cast and terrain accessories. On large areas it works on its own, on small ones rather as a mixing tone with which you tune another color.

A water-thinnable acrylic. Store out of reach of children, ventilate during longer work and close the bottle tightly after use.
