Wolven Grey does not aim at equipment but at living creatures. It is a middle cool gray with a fine brown undertone of the kind the fur of a wolf or a dog has, and the weather-beaten wool of a cloak, and wood that lay too long under the open sky. On fantasy figures it is a practical base for every character around whom cold and damp are to be felt.
With fur in particular it is useful that the paint is heavily pigmented. A dry brush pulls individual hairs out of it in a single stroke, because the pigment clings even when there is a minimum of paint on the bristle. It takes a wash from above just as well, which pulls a dark tone into the roots of the fur and lets what was pulled out earlier stand out.
It thins with water and once dry it stays matte, without the highlights that would look out of place on a hairy surface. The bottle with a volume of seventeen milliliters has a dropper and a metal ball, so the contents do not have to be poured out or stirred with a stick before work. The cap seats tightly, thanks to which the rest of the paint stays usable even after a longer break between two projects.
With larger animals it pays to lay in a darker gray, pull the middle parts out with this tone and fine-tune the highest places with just a drop of a light one. Three values are enough for fur to look dense, and further shades only fill in the transitions between them.
