AMMO of Mig Jimenez Acrylic Filter Marine Blue is a liquid acrylic filter for toning the surfaces of a model. Once it is done, fixing it with a coat of varnish is advisable so that the later weathering steps do not disturb the finished effect.
Responsibility details are not available.
A filter is the gentlest of the weathering steps: it neither makes dirt nor brings out the engraved lines, it only shifts the tone of the surface you lay it on. This one has the blue Marine Blue shade. It is used above all where a surface is meant to look cooler and deeper, or where several panels shaded separately need to be pulled together into one whole.
A finished filter is a thin layer on the surface, and the next weathering step can easily dissolve or wipe it away. When a wash, a pigment or dry-brushing comes after the filter, you risk erasing your own work. That is why a filter is sealed with a coat of varnish once it is dry, matte if the surface is to be final, gloss if decals are still to come. The varnish also separates the chemistry of the individual layers, so that afterwards you can safely use a wash with a different thinner without the two mixing. Spray the varnish as a thin mist from a greater distance; a heavy first coat will ripple a fresh filter.
For modelers who build their weathering up in several steps and want to be sure that the individual layers will not disturb one another. Fixing adds work, but it is the most reliable safeguard against the last step destroying all the earlier ones.
Keep out of the reach of children. Work in a ventilated room, protect your eyes and skin and wash your hands after work. Close the bottle carefully after use.
