An aid for diorama work from the Spanish label Green Stuff World. It is a rigid acrylic mold into which pliable modeling putty is pressed to take an impression of a paved surface. The H Shaped Paver subject matches interlocking pavers with H-shaped units that fit into one another. It is not a finished part; you make the paved area yourself and exactly to the size the scene needs.
Interlocking paving of this kind is laid in reality where the surface has to take a load, that is in parking lots, courtyards, beside loading ramps and in industrial sites. In a scene it therefore looks practical and modern and goes well with modern vehicles and figures. It also suits areas meant to be seen whole: pavers locked into one another make up a regular structure that draws the eye without looking monotonous.
Roll the putty out into an even slab and press it into the mold with one push over the whole area at once, so that the pattern does not break anywhere. Before taking the impression, lightly dampen the surface of the mold or treat it with a release agent, so that the putty does not stick. Let the impression harden, then take it out and trim it to the shape you need. A dark shade runs well into the joints between the pavers and brings out the structure.
