Eight shades to the German scale for civilian air ambulance helicopters: rapeseed yellow, sulfur yellow, three shades of red and a warning orange.

The air ambulance service has an unmistakable color scheme in Europe and this set of eight sums it up. The rapeseed yellow RAL 1021 is the basis worn by the machines of the German automobile club, the Austrian drivers' club, the Czech operator and the Hungarian ambulance service. It is complemented by the luminous red RAL 3024, which the German operator has on the warning stripe on the underside of the fuselage of the Bo 105, BK 117 and EC135 types.
The traffic red RAL 3020 together with the white RAL 9016 make up the pair of the Swiss mountain rescue service and in variations it is used by Bulgarian and Slovak operators as well. The flame red RAL 3000 belongs to the German rescue flight that uses the Bo 105, EC135 and EC145 types. The pure orange RAL 2004 covers the machines of the German federal rescue service from the end of 1978, that is the Bo 105, Bell 212 and UH-1D helicopters.
Northern Europe has a tone of its own: the sulfur yellow RAL 1016 is carried by the helicopters of the Dutch automobile club and of Scandinavian operators. The last bottle holds the pearl opal green RAL 6036, which a Scandinavian operator combines with the rapeseed yellow into a metallic yellow-green coat on the EC145 type. The set therefore covers a whole region, not one air operator.
