Eight colors of civilian rescue helicopters to the RAL scale: the yellow, red and orange liveries of European air rescue services.
Responsibility details are not available.
This box steps outside the military focus of the surrounding series. The eight bottles are aimed at civilian helicopters that fly over cities and mountains and have to be seen from a distance. All eight shades refer to the RAL scale, the standard used in industry rather than to aviation tables.
The most widespread is Colza Yellow (RAL1021), the base tone of German, Austrian, Czech and Hungarian air ambulance machines. It is joined by Luminous Red (RAL3024), which forms the prominent stripe on the underside of the German Bo 105, BK 117 and EC135.
The second group is a red and white combination. Traffic Red (RAL3020) together with Traffic White (RAL9016) makes up the livery of the Swiss rescue service and the schemes derived from it, used for example in Bulgaria and Slovakia; the white also turns up with one of the German operators.
The third group is orange and yellow. Pure Orange (RAL2004) has been the overall color of the German state rescue arm since the end of 1978 and was worn by the Bo 105, the Bell 212, the UH-1D and the EC135. Sulphur Yellow (RAL1016) belongs to Dutch and Nordic operators, Flame Red (RAL3000) to another German service, and the last bottle, Pearl Opal Green (RAL6036), is the metallic element of the yellow-green livery of the EC145.
For the modeler it is a rare chance to build a helicopter in colors that are not meant to hide it but on the contrary to make it as conspicuous as possible.
