AK synthetic brush – Hammer is a single synthetic brush from the AK family for effects and details. It has a short, compact head made for stippling paint on and for building irregular textures, not for ordinary painting with strokes.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is one separate synthetic brush from AK, part of the family of brushes for effects and details. For this range the manufacturer states soft and springy synthetic fibers suitable both for modeling work and for fine art techniques. The head of the brush is short and compact, closer in shape to a stamp than to a classic pointed brush. That is exactly why it is not dragged across the surface: it works with perpendicular touches, dabbing and tapping the paint into the surface. The technique is called stippling and it is used wherever an even stroke would look unnatural.
For modelers who do weathering: patina on vehicles, dioramas, terrain, buildings and figures, wherever an irregular, dirty surface is needed. It is not suitable for clean painting of areas, for lines and for fine details, and for those a classic round or flat brush is the right choice. Count on the fact that stippling is a rough technique for a brush and the fibers wear out faster than in ordinary painting, which is why such brushes are bought separately and are not used for fine work.
Safety and care: clean the brush immediately after use, with a suitable cleaner or thinner for enamel paints and with water for acrylics. Never let paint dry in the ferrule at the metal part, as that will harden the brush for good. Use thinners and cleaners in a ventilated room. Paints and thinners are not included in the package.
