Basic Dirt Effects – Weathering Set (AK Interactive, Train Series)

A set of enamel (solvent-based) weathering products intended for creating the basic effects of dirt and dust on models of locomotives and wagons. It makes it possible to create rain marks, marks of aging and settled grime quickly, which give a railway model a realistically used look. The products are liquid and are thinned and removed with mineral spirits (white spirit).

Use

• They are applied with a brush over a base coat that has already been given a matte clear coat and has dried.
• Let the effect become tacky briefly, then draw off the excess with a brush moistened in mineral spirits; that is how you control the intensity and the direction of the runs (rain marks from top to bottom, for example).
• By layering several passes you build up the depth of the dirt; it is ideal on the sides of wagons, on running gear and on lower areas.
• Although this is the railway line, you will also use the products on other vehicles and on dioramas.
