The darkest bottle of the scenic Earth Colors line. The black water-thinnable pigment deepens the shadows in the joints of rocks and blackens the inside of a tunnel and the area around the tracks. A volume of 118 ml.

Of all the bottles of the scenic line, this is the one a modeler uses up least and at the same time reaches for most often. On its own it is almost never used; it is thinned with water into a glaze and runs into the joints, the crevices and the lower edges of a casting, where it creates shadow. It is precisely shadow that sets a cast rock apart from a piece of plaster: the eye reads depth by where the dark is, and weathered stone has a dark core to a crevice and lighter polished edges.
The pigment is non-toxic and mixable with water, and once dry it stays soluble, so an area that is too dark can be drawn back with a damp cloth. It is applied to porous materials: paper pulp, wood, plaster, plaster cloth, shaping paste and shaped foam. The bottle has 118 ml, which with thinning lasts for a large piece of terrain.
The advised procedure is care: apply the black thinned and in layers, because lightening it back is harder than adding more. Anyone who only wants to tone down an overlit tone of stone had better reach for the gray or brown bottle of the same line and keep the black for the last accents of depth. The individual bottles of the line can be mixed with one another, so this one serves as a darkener at the same time: a few drops are enough for ocher or umber to lose their confectionery brightness and come closer to real rock.
