A finished growth for direct use. The tufts are made of fine fibers with tiny flower accents applied in yellow and are supplied on a backing film from which they are lifted one by one. You therefore do not have to scatter, shape or soak them with a binder: the whole job consists of choosing the right place and pressing the tuft down. Yellow is the most versatile color of the whole range: it matches dandelions, buttercups and ordinary flowering weeds, which appear in the landscape from spring to the end of summer and are tied to no single region or season.
Flowering vegetation survives in nature where nobody grazes or mows it: on field margins, in ditches, along fences and walls, at the feet of posts, between the rails of a siding, on the shoulder of a road and around disused buildings. That is precisely a gold mine for a diorama, because these are places that would otherwise be a dull empty area. Restraint is essential: blossom tufts belong in small numbers in an otherwise green area. If you sow a whole meadow with them, the result stops looking real and at the same time you lose the contrast the tufts are bought for.
Lift the tuft off the film with tweezers by its lower part, not by the fibers. If the underside holds by itself, it is enough to press it in place and hold it for a moment; otherwise use a drop of PVA glue or cyanoacrylate gel. A tuft settles into a scene better if you press it lightly into the terrain and scatter a little fine earth or dust around it, so that it does not look as if it lay on the surface. You can shorten the height with sharp scissors from below and even the shape out with the tips of the scissors from above. If you want a lower, more natural growth, divide the tuft with your fingers into two or three smaller parts.
This is a scenic accessory for direct use. Glue and a base are not included in the package.
