A modeling brush for painting by hand. It suits details, finishing off shades and laying paint on small areas of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Even in the age of airbrushes the brush remains irreplaceable. With it you lay paint on small areas the stream from an airbrush cannot reach, bring out edges, darken hollows, go over a photo-etched part or fine-tune a shade on a part already built into the model. It is used for applying liquid patinas, varnishes and decal softeners as well.
Thin the paint so that it flows freely from the tip and holds no lumps. Thick paint spreads the hairs apart and leaves grooves from the strokes on the surface. Take up paint on the front part of the hairs only, never as far as the metal ferrule, because paint dried at the ferrule will part the hairs for good. Cover with two thin coats rather than one heavy one and let the surface dry in between. Lead the strokes in one direction; crossing them tears at the fresh coat.
Clean the brush right after the work, while the paint is still wet. Use a thinner that matches the paint just applied and repeat the cleaning until no colored residue comes away. Never leave the brush standing tip down in a jar of thinner, as the hairs will bend and never straighten again. After cleaning, shape the hairs back with your fingers and let the brush dry lying flat or tip up. Dried residue at the ferrule can no longer be removed, which is why thorough cleaning after every job pays off.
The brush alone is supplied. Paints, thinner and a jar for cleaning are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
