Even though the main areas of a model are sprayed with an airbrush, most of the rest is finished with a brush. It paints small parts that are not worth setting up the airbrush for, it touches in places that were covered during spraying, it repairs scuffs from handling and it applies clear coat over a decal. Drybrushing brings out the edges, and the tip leads paint into the recesses. That is exactly why a modeler usually keeps several brushes of different sizes and saves the finest one for the last strokes.
Load paint onto only part of the length of the hair and wipe the excess on the rim of the pot, otherwise a drop will run onto the model. Go by the consistency of the paint: too thick and it leaves brush marks, too thin and it runs where it should not. Two light coats are better than one heavy one. Lead the brush with a stroke away from you and do not press on it; pressure splays the hair and the stroke widens where you did not want it.
Never let paint dry in the bundle at the metal ferrule; that is where a brush most often goes bad. After work, wash it out with a product appropriate to the paint used, draw the hair back into its original shape and let it dry lying flat. Store it so that the hair rests against nothing.
Paints, thinners and other modeling tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
