Olive Drab according to the British BS 381C chart carries the number 298 and is a subdued olive brownish green, that is, the typical color of military vehicles and equipment. A reference to a chart is important with such shades, because a whole family of different colors is used side by side under the name Olive Drab and the differences between them are readily visible as soon as you put two models next to each other. The number 298 from the British standard says which of them it is.
Stir the paint thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom of the bottle. Choose the thinner and the ratio of thinning according to the instructions of the manufacturer on the packaging, and use the thinner intended for this range. Spray in thin coats and let them set in between, otherwise the paint will flood the detail. The base must be clean and degreased. With large single-color areas, of the kind vehicles have, a base coat pays off, as otherwise every difference in the base will show through the shade.
It suits vehicles, artillery, crates and equipment and also figures in military dress. A uniform area in this shade looks flat on a model, so it is worth bringing the shade to life: lighten the middle of the areas slightly, add a darker tone into nooks and corners and accent the edges carefully with a dry brush.
A thinner, brushes and other accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
