AK Interactive Buff - Oil Paint 20 ml (Sand Ocher)

Buff is an oil paint for modelers of the Abteilung 502 range by AK Interactive, supplied in a tube with a volume of 20 ml. It is a thick artist's oil paste with a high pigment content - not a ready-made wash and not an acrylic. You thin it yourself according to the effect you want, from a subtle filter to a dense application. The formula of the range has a reduced binder content, so the dry coat is flat and leaves no unwanted gloss on the model.

Buff is a warm light sand ocher shade. In modeling weathering it plays two main roles: it is a light dust tone and at the same time one of the best shades for lightening and fading base colors, because unlike a pure white it does not make a surface chalkily cold.

Use

• Light dust and dry dusty earth on vehicles, suspensions and lower areas.
• Fading - brightening and bleaching the base finish in the middle of panels and large areas.
• Highlights on edges, rivets and raised detail, where a pure white would look unnatural.
• Lightening other oil shades toward the warm when mixing your own tones.
• Dust filters that unify a camouflage and soften the transitions between patches.
• Picking out the surface of figures, gear, bases and buildings on dioramas.

It is applied by stippling onto a fully dry and ideally varnished surface and blended with a clean brush dampened in mineral spirits or odorless thinner. The slow drying of oils gives plenty of time for spreading, wiping and fine-tuning, so the effect can be built up gradually and muted at any time.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of military and civil vehicles, aircraft, figures and dioramas who want convincing dust and fading without losing the warmth of the color scheme. Together with a brown umber and a dust shade, Buff forms the core of a basic oil palette and suits beginners as well.

Safety notice: oil paint based on drying oils, thinned with organic solvents. Work in a well-ventilated room, avoid contact with the eyes and skin, keep out of the reach of children. Let rags soaked in oil paint and thinner dry spread out flat; do not store them crumpled up.
