Ceres Yellow 6mm — yellow grass tufts from Paint Forge

Ceres Yellow 6mm is one of the grass tufts for a diorama from the brand Paint Forge. It is scenic material to be applied to finished terrain, not a kit and not a standalone object in a scene. From the name the yellow tone of the growth is certain, together with the designation 6 mm, which with scenic vegetation usually states the height.

Where yellow growth comes in useful

• dried summer grass on a verge, a field boundary and in a ditch;
• steppe and semi-desert scenes;
• fantasy and science-fiction terrain, where vegetation need not be green;
• a light contrast between darker tufts and the soil.

How to work with the material

Vegetation is placed in a scene as the last step, after painting the terrain and after pigments. Yellow growth stands out on darker soil, but it must not form a continuous band — place the tufts in clumps of unequal size and leave open areas between them. If a tuft does not hold by itself, a drop of PVA or cyanoacrylate glue under its base is enough; the glue must not wick into the fibers, otherwise they will harden and stick together. A tuft can be divided with scissors into smaller clumps or trimmed down to lower growth, and the bottom dusted with a pigment so that the transition to the terrain does not look harsh.

For modelers of dioramas, vignettes and elaborate bases for military hardware, figures and fantasy models alike. The material is not tied to a particular scale, as the character of the scene is what decides.

It is scenic material, not a kit. A base, terrain compounds, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
