Fujimi Chibi-Maru Akizuki is a cute shortened kit of the Japanese destroyer Akizuki from the popular Chibi-Maru line — this is not a scale model but a fun caricature form of a real ship.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from the Chibi-Maru line of the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the destroyer Akizuki in a deliberately shortened, caricature form with a big bow and crowded superstructures. It is therefore not a conventional scale model — the Chibi-Maru line has no uniform scale and relies on a cute look, small dimensions and a simple build. The finished little ship fits in the palm of your hand and will decorate any shelf.
Akizuki was the lead ship of the Japanese destroyer class of the same name, which entered service from 1942. The class was designed above all for the anti-aircraft protection of carrier groups and carried quick-firing 100 mm guns with a high rate of fire — for their time they were among the best anti-aircraft destroyers. Akizuki took part in the fighting in the Pacific including the operations off the Solomon Islands.
Thanks to the small number of parts the build is quick and even a beginner will manage it. Bond the parts with a thin coat of cement for plastic and hold the smaller pieces with tweezers. Spray or brush the hull gray, set the deck apart with a darker shade and pick out the details with a brush. The cute look is underlined by clean, rather lighter painting without pronounced weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
