Chibi-Maru Yamashiro is a cute distorted kit of the Japanese battleship Yamashiro from Fujimi — a shortened hull, a prominent pagoda superstructure and an easy build with no conventional scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Chibi-Maru Yamashiro from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi is a simplified kit of the battleship Yamashiro in the distorted style of the Chibi-Maru line. This is not a scale model — the hull is shortened and the proportions deliberately exaggerated, which makes the characteristic tall pagoda superstructure of the original stand out even more. The build is quick, undemanding and suitable even for a first attempt at modeling.
Yamashiro was the second ship of the Fuso class, the pair of Imperial Japanese Navy battleships built during the First World War. After modernizations in the 1930s she carried an exceptionally tall tower superstructure, one of the most recognizable shapes in all of naval history. The ship went down in October 1944 in the Battle of Surigao Strait, one of the last engagements between battleships in history.
Work in subassemblies — hull, superstructure, turrets — and dry-fit the parts beforehand. Bond them with a thin cement for plastic and paint them with acrylics: gray for the hull and the superstructures, a darker shade for the deck. A fine wash will bring out the intricacy of the pagoda tower, and a final matte varnish will unify everything.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
