About product

A cork sheet with a coarse grain, 200 x 300 x 2 mm

A modeling material, not a finished accessory. A pressed cork sheet 200 x 300 mm and 2 mm thick with a coarse grain structure. Coarser cork has a more pronounced surface that on its own resembles stone, concrete after a blast or weathered rock, so after breaking and painting it looks convincing even without further texturing. The smaller thickness makes it easier to bend into undulating terrain and to layer into rock walls.

Use

  • Rocks, cliffs and weathered stone walls
  • Rubble, broken masonry and damaged concrete
  • Uneven terrain, embankments and the edges of roads
  • The layering of several sheets into tall rock formations

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas, vignettes and model railroads who want to create a stone structure quickly and simply. The sheet is cut with a sharp knife and broken into irregular edges. Before painting, strengthen the surface with thinned PVA glue or with a base coat, because cork absorbs acrylic paint strongly. It is advisable to paint with an airbrush and to refine the result with a wash and a dry brush.

The material is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package. Use a cutting mat when cutting and pay attention to safety.

FAQ

When you need a pronounced stone structure — rocks, weathered concrete, rubble. The fine grain is more suitable for smoother surfaces and smaller scales.

Break the sheet into irregular pieces, layer them on top of each other and glue them together. The fracture edges create a natural rock structure.

It is porous and absorbs paint strongly. A layer of thinned PVA glue or of a base coat unifies the absorbency and saves a great deal of paint.

No, it is the cork sheet alone, without paints and glue.
