Academy Da Vinci Arch Bridge is a plastic kit of the self-supporting arch bridge from Leonardo da Vinci's drawing.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from Academy, part of the Da Vinci Machines range, represents a self-supporting arch bridge designed after the ideas of Leonardo da Vinci. It is not a scale model of a particular structure but an educational construction model that demonstrates the principle of a bridge held together by its own weight, with no glue or fasteners. The model is assembled by wedging the parts into one another.
Leonardo da Vinci designed an ingenious self-supporting bridge whose beams brace one another and hold together purely through geometry and the distribution of forces. The construction calls for no nails, glue or ropes. The model brings his engineering insight into statics and the distribution of loads closer.
Follow the instructions exactly and take care over the correct order in which the parts are wedged together. The bridge holds together by its own weight and by the tension of the structure, so accuracy of assembly matters. The model can be left in the natural appearance of wood or finished with paints.
The model is supplied unassembled. Paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
