This is the section for builds that refuse the usual boxes. Architecture is the strongest thread – Japanese castles and pagodas, European landmarks – and around it sit robots, working curiosities and pop-culture novelties that have no natural home among aircraft or armour.
The composition shifts over time, which is part of the appeal: this is where to look when you want an unusual present, or a build that nobody else at the club will have on their shelf. Construction is conventional plastic modelling, so the skills from any other branch carry straight over.
If the classics are more your line, the full tree of aircraft, cars, ships and armour is in plastic model kits. An undemanding way in is offered by snap-fit kits, which need neither glue nor paint, and anyone drawn to imagined machines rather than real ones should look at space, sci-fi and fantasy kits.
