This injection-molded plastic kit from Academy, part of the Da Vinci Machines range, represents a paddle boat designed after the ideas of Leonardo da Vinci. It is not a scale model of a vessel but a working mechanical and educational model that demonstrates propulsion by paddle wheels. The model is usually assembled without glue or with a minimum of gluing.
In his drawings Leonardo da Vinci designed a vessel driven by paddle wheels, powered by human muscle through a set of gears. The model brings his inventive thinking closer, along with the principle of turning motion into the drive of the paddles that set the boat moving.
Follow the instructions exactly: the gears and the paddle mechanism have to engage correctly for the model to work. Take care over the free running of the moving parts. The model can be left in its natural appearance or finished with paints for a more realistic impression of wood.
The model is supplied unassembled. Paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
