About product

Dark Rust Pigment - a modeling pigment by AK Interactive

An ultrafine pigment in the form of a loose powder by the manufacturer AK Interactive in a dark, brownish shade of rust. It is not a covering paint but a weathering material for realistic corrosion effects. It suits old, deeply rusted places, exhausts, chains, metal parts of vehicles, ships and machinery, and the surface of dioramas. Dark rust forms the base under lighter shades of rust, which are layered over it for a three-dimensional effect. The package holds 35 ml. It is applied dry, or wet with a pigment fixer or mineral spirits.

Use

  • Dry: work it with a brush into recesses and onto metal surfaces.
  • Wet: mix it with a pigment fixer or with mineral spirits.
  • Use the dark rust as a base and then layer lighter ocher shades of rust over it.
  • When you are done, fix it with a pigment fixer.

Who it is for

For modelers of military and civilian vehicles, ships and dioramas who want realistic deep rust.

The pigment is a fine powder: do not inhale it, work in a ventilated area and consider a protective mask. Paints and the fixer are not included in the package.
