Deep Pour Water, a clear pouring medium for model water

A two-part modeling medium from the American maker Woodland Scenics intended for casting deeper sheets of water. The package holds a water base and an activator, which are mixed before pouring according to the manufacturer's instructions. Unlike thin surface gels it suits lakes, ponds, harbors and canals, where a real volume of water has to be created. The cured compound is clear and hard, it does not shrink and it does not yellow in time. It is not a paint and not a varnish but a pouring medium.

Use

• The channel or the basin has to be perfectly watertight; seal the joints and edges in advance, as otherwise the compound will run underneath.
• Finish and paint the bottom first, as the depth of a scene arises precisely from the bottom showing through.
• Mix the two parts in the ratio given in the manufacturer's instructions and stir slowly, so that no bubbles form.
• Pour in layers and let each one cure properly, as a layer poured over all at once hardens unevenly.
• Adjust the shade of the water with the tinting color of the Water Tint line, added drop by drop before pouring.
• The surface can finally be finished with the ripple gel of the same maker.

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and layouts who need a deeper and transparent sheet of water, and for ship modelers building display scenes. The work calls for patience and careful preparation of the base, but the result is far more convincing than a painted surface.

Work in a ventilated room, on a protected mat, and prevent contact with the skin and the eyes. Keep out of the reach of children and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the package.
