A modeling aid, not a kit. The pack contains twenty pieces of abrasive material die-cut to a uniform shape, with an adhesive layer on the reverse. The backing is TPU, that is thermoplastic polyurethane, which is flexible and according to the manufacturer lasts longer than an ordinary paper carrier. The 1500 grit is the finest stage offered in this range.

Use

• It goes on at the end of the sanding sequence, usually after around 1200 grit, when all that is left is smoothing rather than removing material.
• The typical job is preparation for a high gloss, that is the bodies of car models, painted cowlings or areas that will finally be polished with a compound.
• It suits the leveling of small imperfections in dried paint, of leftover dust specks and of the edges of decals sealed under varnish.
• Work with light pressure and in short strokes. Under too much force even a fine abrasive will draw itself into soft paint.
• Stick a piece onto a rigid plate or a sanding stick, otherwise it will buckle under your fingers and the surface will stay buckled as well.

Who it is for

For modelers who take a surface up to a high gloss, and for builders of car and motorcycle models, where the quality of the paint is the main criterion. It is also useful for repairs, where the finished paint has to be worked without leaving a visible trace.

Do not breathe in the sanding dust and work in a ventilated space. Remove the dust residue thoroughly before the next coat, or it will show under the paint.
