You are not buying a brush and not a weathering paste, but an acrylic paint from a range that Green Stuff World named after the technique it is intended for. The bottle holds 30 ml and the shade is called Alpha Turquoise, that is a saturated turquoise. It is worked like an ordinary paint for a brush, in thin passes over raised detail.

What dry brushing does to a model

You pick up only a minute amount of paint on the brush and wipe the vast majority of it off on a paper towel. Only then do you pass over the surface with light, quick strokes. The paint catches only on the raised places the brush can physically reach, that is on edges, rivets, screws, buckles and coarse texture. The hollows, joints and engraving stay in the darker tone of the base. A contrast arises that the eye reads as volume, and the model stops looking flat.

Use

• Pick the paint up only on the tip of the brush and wipe the excess off until a stroke no longer leaves a continuous mark.
• Draw the strokes across an edge, not along it, and rather perpendicular to the surface than flat against it.
• Work in thin layers. You can always add one more pass, while excess paint is far harder to remove.
• Stir the contents of the bottle before work, so that the shade stays the same throughout.
• Do not let the paint dry at the root of the bristles, and clean the brush as soon as you finish.
