Earth Clay is a modeling paint, that is a chemical product - not a kit. It belongs to the OILBRUSHER range from AMMO of Mig Jimenez, which are oil paints (not acrylics, not enamels) pre-thinned to a consistency ready for work. The package is a 10 ml bottle and its cap carries a fine brush - so you take and apply the paint directly, with no palette and no mixing. The neck of the bottle wipes the excess off the brush, so the paint does not go on in lumps.
Earth Clay is a clay earth shade - against the lighter, dustier tone of Medium Soil it is deeper, darker and looks greasier. That is exactly why it suits places where you do not want mere dust but a heavier deposit: clay soil holds in grooves, gaps and around rivets, whereas fine dust settles more on flat areas. In practice the two colors work beautifully side by side - Medium Soil as dry dust, Earth Clay as a dried clay layer underneath it.
The oil paint dries slowly - so you have a long time to blend the effect, soften it into its surroundings and draw the excess off until it sits right. It is blended and thinned with odorless thinner or mineral spirits (water does not work). Apply it over a cured varnished base, so that the excess can be wiped cleanly and the layer underneath is not damaged. For a coarser, rougher mud texture, combine the paint with texture pastes and pigments.
For modelers of military vehicles, diorama builders and anyone who wants convincing earthy effects without working with a classic oil tube and a palette.
