Adhesive-free Handheld Sanding Board

A hand sanding board from the Taiwanese brand Madworks that holds the sanding sponge mechanically, without adhesive. An ordinary sanding board has to be taped over with double-sided tape, and every change of grit then means peeling, adhesive residue and cleaning. Here the sponge latches into the holder on the board, so it is changed in a few seconds and can be used again.

How to use the sanding board

The manufacturer states that the board holds its sanding sponges 3 and 5 mm thick and the sponges from its soft range. Check before you buy, therefore, what thickness of sponge you use. A rigid board under a flexible sponge gives the combination that suits modeling best: the edge does not turn sharp and the surface still does not ripple. Press evenly and along the whole length, not only under your fingers, otherwise a slight irregularity will be sanded in. Take the sponge out after work and wash it; the board stays clean.

Who the sanding board is for

For modelers who sand often and change grits in one session, typically when working with putty or when cleaning up injection-molded parts. You will appreciate it too if adhesive tape and its residue bother you. Sanding sponges are not included in the package.
