1:32 Bf109 G Exhausts and MG131 Gun set for Revell kits

The real subject

The Bf 109 G was the most numerously built series of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter aircraft. Unlike the earlier machines of this family it carried MG 131 weapons of 13 mm caliber in the cowling above the engine instead of lighter machine guns; their larger breeches called for the conspicuous bulges in front of the cockpit, by which these versions are easily recognized. The exhaust pipes come out at the sides of the front cowling and belong among the places that catch the eye first on a model.

What the set contains

The set brings replacement exhausts and MG 131 machine guns for 1:32 scale. It replaces the parts from the kit, on which the opening of the exhaust tends to be blind and the barrel merely suggested. The set is cut for Revell kits, so the seating is based on their shapes.

Building and painting tips

The parts are not of polystyrene and ordinary glue for plastic has no effect on them; use cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material and the marks of production off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest carefully, so that the shape is preserved. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Seat the exhausts dry before gluing and check the angle of the pipes against the fuselage. For painting, a dark base and a drybrush that brings out the edges and the scorched surface have proved themselves. The detailed procedure and the extent of the alterations to the kit are to be found in the manufacturer's instructions.

Who it is for

For modelers who build the Bf 109 G in a large scale and want both the exhausts and the barrels more faithful than those out of the box. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
