The BTR-80 is a Soviet eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier that remains in service with a number of armies to this day. Its armor protects the crew against splinters and small arms fire, but it is not built for more, and the crews therefore added protection of their own from whatever was at hand. Sandbags stacked on the nose and on the sides of the hull are among the most common modifications visible in photographs from real deployment.
The set brings sandbags shaped to the outline of the BTR-80, so they seat on the actual surfaces of the hull and do not have to be laboriously reworked. The individual bags have the sagging and the folds of cloth of a filled bag giving way under its own weight.
The accessory is added onto a finished hull:
Sacking is not of one color. The difference between a newer and a faded bag, dust settled in the folds and traces of the crew's touch will give the whole depth that a khaki shade on its own will never provide.
The set is intended for builders of the BTR-80 in 1:35 scale who want to move the vehicle from its factory form to a scene from real deployment. A model, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
