The real subject

The water lily is among the plants that give a diorama with water scale and life. The round leaves with a notch float directly on the surface and the flower grows out of them a little higher. It is exactly that combination of flat leaves and one element standing out that makes an area of water readable at first glance.

What the set contains

This is a set with a water lily motif in 1:35 scale, that is leaves and flowers. Check the extent of the package, the dimensions of the parts and the material against the illustration on the box and the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

Place the leaves only onto a finished water surface, when the ground is completely dry and cured. Do not arrange them in a regular grid, as in nature they form clusters with irregular gaps. Place the flowers by only some of the clusters, not by every leaf.

• turn a few leaves slightly askew, as a perfectly flat surface looks artificial
• shade the leaves from a darker center to a lighter edge, as the underside tends to be lighter
• the edges of the leaves may carry a touch of brown, as a purely green surface looks poor in relief
• make the finished greenery matte and keep the gloss for the water surface around it
• choose the glue and the paints according to the material of the parts; the procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions

Who it is for

The set is aimed at builders of dioramas in 1:35 scale who are working on a pond, a pool or flooded terrain and need to bring the surface to life with something. Arranging the parts is more a matter of patience than of experience. A base, the model, figures, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
