A stencil is the simplest way of getting a sharply bounded shape onto a model that cannot be drawn freehand. You lay it on the surface, spray paint through the cut-out areas and after taking it off a clean edge is left without fraying. The size of 72 x 60 mm corresponds to the area taken up in 1:35 scale by the sides of a vehicle, the door of a building or a piece of terrain on a base.
The name gives a stencil for work with an airbrush measuring 72 x 60 mm. The motif, the number of cut-out shapes and the material do not follow from the name; you will find them in the illustration on the box and in the manufacturer's instructions. Paints, an airbrush and a model are not included.
Lay the stencil on a dry and degreased surface and press it down over its whole area, so that the paint does not get under the edge. Spray at a right angle and in thin coats; an oblique spray gets under the edge and smears the shape. A lower pressure and a smaller dose of paint give a cleaner edge than one strong pass.
The stencil is aimed at modelers who spray with an airbrush and want a repeatable shape without drawing by hand. Even a slightly advanced beginner will manage the procedure; just try the setting of the airbrush out beforehand. The model, paints and an airbrush are not included, unless stated otherwise.
