1:72 Aircraft chocks, set #3 4 pcs + decal

Chocks in 1:72 scale

An accessory set in 1:72 scale contains, according to the name, four chocks for under the wheels of an aircraft and a sheet with a decal to go with them. A chock is a small thing that does a lot of work in a finished scene: a model standing on an open surface without them looks as though it were about to drive off at any moment, whereas a pair of chocks at the wheels of the landing gear settles it on a diorama. According to the name this is the third set of a numbered series, so it can be put together with further sets from the same manufacturer.

What the set contains

Four chocks, that is a pair for each of two wheels, and one sheet with a decal. The material of the parts, their exact dimensions and what the decal carries are given in the manufacturer's description on the packaging.

Building and painting tips

• cut excess material and traces of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder
• before painting, wash the parts and degrease them, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface
• glue the chocks with super glue, as cement for polystyrene does not prove itself here
• seat the chock tight against the wheel, as a gap between it and the tire gives the set piece away
• the decal is small, so carry it with tweezers and bring it into place with a brush

The decal and who the set is for

A sheet is usually transferred by the wet method, that is by a short soaking, sliding it off the paper and pressing it against the surface. Before you soak it, though, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version: a soaked self-adhesive film is irrecoverably ruined, whereas an unsoaked waterslide decal can be soaked afterwards. The set suits builders of aircraft in 1:72 scale who do not build a model only for a display case but also for an airfield scene. The model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
