A kit of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-5 fighter in 1:48 scale, The Weekend Edition.
Responsibility details are not available.
Throughout the Second World War the Bf 109 was one of the mainstays of the German fighter force, and the G series, nicknamed Gustav, was the most numerous of its versions. It was powered by the inverted V12 DB 605 engine and carried heavier armament than the earlier machines. The G-5 version differed from the G-6 built alongside it in having a pressurized cockpit, which let it work at high altitude; otherwise the two remained very much alike.
The item is supplied as a set of parts to be assembled and painted, in 1:48 scale. The designation The Weekend Edition in the name identifies the edition within the manufacturer's range; the extent of the contents and the finishes offered are stated by the manufacturer on the box.
Finish the cockpit and everything that will only be visible through the glazing once the fuselage is joined; only then close the fuselage. Cut the parts off a little away from the part itself, sand the remainder down and wash the surface before painting. Mask the glazing before spraying, not after the paint has dried. Lay the paint down in thin coats; on late-war German machines the mottling on the fuselage tends to be thin and soft, so a slower approach at low pressure pays off.
The model will suit modelers who want another version of the Bf 109 in their collection in the roomier 1:48 scale, where there is enough space for cockpit detail while the model still fits in a display case. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
