A plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Special Hobby. According to the manufacturer it combines the parts of the P-40N with new clear parts and with 3D-printed parts for the second cockpit. The package holds decals for three American aircraft and a mask for the fuselage markings. The kit is meant for more experienced modelers.
The TP-40N was a two-seat trainer created by converting the last production version of the P-40 Warhawk fighter. An instructor's cockpit was built in behind the original pilot's cockpit, but there was no forward view from it, so the instructor watched the space ahead of the aircraft through a system of periscope mirrors. Only a small number of aircraft were converted, so it is a genuine rarity.
The manufacturer points out that an opening for the second cockpit has to be cut into the fuselage, even though the cut follows engraved lines. The kit therefore belongs in the hands of a more experienced modeler. Make the cut with a fine-bladed saw and true the edge up by sanding. Free the printed parts of the second cockpit from their print supports and glue them with super glue, and the rest of the plastic with ordinary polystyrene cement. Glue the clear parts with canopy glue and paint them using the enclosed mask.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
