Injection-molded plastic kit of the three-engined Tupolev Tu-154M airliner in 1:144 scale from the Russian brand Zvezda. The model captures the slender fuselage with its many windows, the three rear-mounted engines and the typical landing gear fairings on the wings. The box contains clear parts and a decal sheet. It is a rewarding model of a classic aircraft, popular above all among collectors of airliners in 1:144 scale.
The Tu-154 was the most widely used Soviet medium to long-haul airliner and for decades the backbone of air travel in the USSR and the Eastern Bloc. The Tu-154M version was the most modern and most economical subversion, with new, more efficient engines and aerodynamic changes. The three rear-mounted engines gave it high performance and good handling even from short and poorly equipped airfields. The type served with a number of airlines and government flights until recent times.
On an airliner, a smooth glossy surface is what counts: fill the fuselage joints carefully and sand them down smooth, because large unbroken areas show up every flaw. Mask the cockpit glazing. Spray a gloss base under the decals with an airbrush so that the livery beds down nicely. Apply the large decals (cheatlines, windows, markings) patiently with a decal softener and then seal them with a clear coat. Finish the landing gear and the engines off at the end.
