The set in 1:16 scale brings together two things that belong with each other: a figure of a German shepherd and a seat for a service dog intended for a sidecar. The designation K-9 is an established English-language abbreviation for service dogs, and the number after the abbreviation vol. tells the first part of the series from its continuation.
An animal is an inconspicuous but powerful element in a scene. It breaks the symmetry of a pair of figures, gives the scene movement and tells the viewer at once what kind of service is involved. In the large 1:16 scale the texture of the fur and the expression of the head also come out, for which there is little room in smaller scales.
First try the seating of the dog seat into the sidecar dry; small adjustment of the area under the seat tends to be easier before gluing than after it. Cut off the excess material and the marks of manufacture with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder gently. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: for polystyrene parts modeling cement is enough, for other materials reach for super glue. Build the fur up from a darker base and gradually draw out lighter hairs with short strokes in the direction of their growth. Leave the eyes and the nose for the end and give the nose a slight gloss, so that it looks wet.
It will be appreciated by builders of large figure scenes and dioramas in 1:16 scale who want to fill a sidecar with something other than another human figure.
