Demijohns in wicker covers and small barrels in 1:16 scale from the Italian brand Royal Model. Vessels that bring a scene around a large model to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set offers scaled-down demijohns in wicker covers complemented by small wooden barrels, all in 1:16 scale. It is diorama equipment, not a kit of a machine: it belongs in a farmyard, in a cellar, beside a field kitchen, on the bed of a truck or in the corner of a workshop, where a large figure needs something around it to give it scale and a story.
One to sixteen forgives little. The viewer stands within arm's reach of the scene and sees the texture of the wicker as well as the growth rings on the lid of a barrel, so small equipment carries the same weight here as the main model. That is precisely why it pays to paint the vessels separately, away from the scene, and to set them in only at the end.
The wicker cover stands out when, after a base ocher tone, you go over it with a dark oil glaze and wipe the excess away; the dirt stays between the withies and the texture comes out. Suggest the glass of a demijohn with a dark translucent shade with a hint of green and a spot highlight on the side. Lighten the wood of the barrels with a dry brush along the edges of the staves, and leave the hoops dark with a hint of corrosion near the bottom, where the vessel would have stood in the damp.
The vessels are supplied unpainted; obtain paints and glue separately.
