This large-scale kit from HPH Models renders the legendary German reconnaissance and observation aircraft Fw 189 A-1 Uhu in 1:32 scale. It is not conventional injection-molded plastic - the bulk of the parts are cast in polyurethane resin and joined by photo-etched parts, turned metal elements, masks and wet decals. That gives the kit a level of detail hard to reach with ordinary injection molding. It is a collector's model for advanced builders.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 189 Uhu (eagle owl) was a German twin-engined reconnaissance and liaison aircraft of the Second World War with a characteristic layout: a glazed central nacelle for the crew and two tail booms running back from the engines. Thanks to the extensive glazing the crew had an excellent view, which made the aircraft a valued machine for artillery spotting, observation and light combat duties, above all on the Eastern Front. It earned the nickname Uhu precisely for its unmistakable silhouette.
Before building, wash the mold release residue off the resin parts, carefully cut away the casting blocks and sand the surfaces - always with respiratory protection, because resin dust is harmful to health. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate), with an accelerator if needed; the twin-boom layout calls for careful alignment of the booms and the wings. For painting, an airbrush, a good primer for resin and the classic German camouflage scheme all work well. The photo-etched and turned parts bring out the details of the cockpit and the landing gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a kit in resin. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
