The plastic kit Fokker D.II Black & White Tail (1:32) — a German fighter biplane of the First World War. A short-run injection-molded kit for more experienced modelers.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit captures the German fighter biplane Fokker D.II of the First World War period in the large 1:32 scale. It is an injection-molded plastic kit of short-run character, supplemented with a photo-etched set of fine parts. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and offers marking options including a machine with pronounced black and white striping on the tail surfaces.
The Fokker D.II was created as a single-seat fighter biplane and drew on the design line laid out at Fokker. It was armed with a synchronized machine gun firing through the propeller disc and reached the front during 1916. In its day it was among the light, agile machines and it lasted in fighter service until roughly 1917, before more capable types replaced it. It represents the early era of fighter aviation, when the tactics of air combat were only taking shape.
With a short-run kit, expect more careful clean-up of the parts and a dry fit before gluing. Liquid plastic cement works well, and super glue for the small photo-etched parts. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints down with an airbrush in thin coats. Typical work includes bringing out the ribbing of the wing covering and fine rigging of the bracing, which gives a biplane a faithful look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
